About Dirtdog
Well I started playing guitar at 13 wanting to be the next Jake E. Lee, George Lynch, and Warren Demartini and taught myself all the cowboy chords I could find. I than was able to take lessons from a guy named Tom Butler in Old Town, Maine. He showed me some cool Kiss and Poison tunes and Bar chords which you only can play in bars and some scales. I latter found the desire to learn more about scales and music theory since I wanted to learn how the songs that I learned were created rather than just play the songs. I found the teacher I needed in Bangor, Maine. His name was Bill Pierce and he was a University of Maine at Augusta Graduate and also was a hot shot Guitar Institute of Technology grad. He showed me how to play all the scales, chords, and arpeggios as well as show me the music theory that I needed to learn to craft my own tunes. I latter went to the University of Maine at Augusta and learned all the jazz music and theory I could. I was there for awhile then left for Tampa, Florida. Down there I wound up trying to figure out how my stomp pedals worked and went back to college and got my Bachelors in Electrical Engineering. I now am trying to record my original tunes and pass on some knowledge to anyone with the willingness to learn. Since starting on this guitar/music journey some 20 plus years ago I found some core concepts that are not that difficult to understand, but once you have them ingrained in your mind will open up new possibilities for you.
